Ours was one of the last boats built with the older style Balmar charging system, a Series 90 dual output 100 amp alternator. This system essentially performed like two 50 amp alternators and in boats with several house batteries and electrical needs, a stong potential for overcharging the single start battery was always a concern. To solve this problem I installed the new Balmar Duo charge and while I was at it, I also moved the Balmar Max Charge out of the engine compartment.
