In case anybody is wondering, I should mention that there's a reason why we didn't take any pics on day 5: too bloody windy! We doubled up the watch as the Front hit and I was either sleeping, eating, or sailing: hence no pics. The most sustained we saw was 35: Jimmy and Reiner took on a middle-of-the-night blow that gave us a pretty good ride in the mid forties: no problem. We had a couple of local convection squalls on day 7 & 8 that gave us a welcome shower and 35kts: but as usual they were over in a few minutes.
Equipment notes: nothing broke on deck, and the only casualty below was a faulty SSB mike. The autopilot behaved flawlessly in winds up to 30kts and large seas: it only gave up a couple of times when we got a really good blast...and we were of course closely tending the helm at those times. (Reiner also managed to upset it a few times with the SSB transmits ... and again, we hand steered for a few minutes while that was happening.) Buddy Bobby Ward's reefer installation on Larking About is great - with vacuum panels and the Frigoboat keelcooler. The new watermaker -Little Wonder by Village Marine- worked perfectly (in spite of the amateur who installed it!) and the various offshore equipment and mods all worked out well.
Here are some pics of us "on holidays" after the passage.
