After dealing with a laptop PC on board for several years decided that there had to be a better way - tired of connecting disconnecting cords, cables, chargers, etc. Added this small footprint 12vdc PC by Island Time along with a 12vdc LCD monitor and small footprint keyboard.
Two serial ports are connected to NAV data, bi directional GPS and B&G instruments. The two remaining serial ports are connected to my Pactor Modem and SSB Radio. One USB port is connected to my Radar, one is connected to a wireless mouse, and one is connected to a Seagate 600GB USB Drive.
