Eastern Bay Weekend 03-17-11

We spent three days on Warehouse Creek which is off Cox Creek on the Eastern Bay (mid Chesapeake Bay). The spot we anchored in had 8' depth and was fairly secluded. There are houses along the shore further down from where we stayed but the closest place to us was a place called Batts Neck Plantation and we never saw anyone there the entire time. Most of the shoreline has tall grasses and marshland backed by forest. May not be a good spot in hot weather but it was very nice at this time of year.
The bottom is mud and our anchor held just fine in 30 knot winds that blew Friday night from multiple directions. This spot has an open feel but is very well protected from all directions.
The channel in Cox Creek is narrow and not well marked but if you keep centered you'll do fine. The channel going up Warehouse Creek is also narrow and not marked at all. Here you'll want to stay to the South side of the creek all the way in.
