A Product to Toss Overboard or Better Yet - Never Buy!

These 3 pictures are of a Fischer Panda 4kw raw water cooled generator. Purchased new in 1999 it had to be rebuilt in 2001 with only 60 hours on it when the freeze plugs on the cooling casing failed. The bottom picture shows the remaining rust damage from that event. In 2003, with only 300 hours on it, the engine failed completely when raw water was ingested through the air intake manifold; top and middle picture. The design of the unit, which draws its air from bottom of the enclosed case allows this to happen. The case bottom is also lined with foam so you cannot visually detect if you have a leak and the water accumulates there only to be drawn up into the air intake. Very poor design IMHO. Igore the Kohler Power sign in the backgound, another failed generator on the bench. Raw water cooled?
