8186-HP Wifi Radio

Earlier this month I was trying to come up with a WiFi system for use on the boat using Power over Ethernet and a remotely mounted radio. After talking with Colin I purchased one of the High Gain Antennas 8186-HP1 radios. I installed the radio in the attic and started working to configure it for potential use on the boat in place of my WiFi card/amplifier/long run of coax to the antenna.
The system worked fairly well out of the box but there are many different operating modes and settings. Colin helped me work through some of the configuration issues and also put me onto a "Discovery Tool" that makes subsequent changes to the radio much easier. Colin and I are working on a configuration/lessons learned document which we will share with those interested.
This system is far superior to my earlier attempt and goes way beyond my RF based WiFi system.
