Replacing Cockpit Scupper Hoses & Thru-Hulls

Sunday - October 25, 2015•Views: 1142••Taken at Shadyside, MD•
Replacing 30-year-old cockpit drain hoses & Marelon thru-hulls. Going into it, I thought the hoses would be OK but the thru-hulls not, given the hairline cracks on the thru-hulls. Once into the project, it turned out to be the reverse: Hoses were intact but weak, but the thru-hulls still strong, despite apparent deterioration. Access in the IP 26/27 is very difficult: Secret weapon with the hoses was a heat gun, with the thru-hulls it was a saber saw and chisel to cut into and knock off the external mushroom covers. Remaining pipe was hammered inside the boat, opening up the holes. 5200 is very strong stuff.
