IP 35 Chainplates Replaced

This is IP35 001, and this one owner boat (now a two owner) maintained these chainplate seals every year and they also tuned the rig every year. This was and has been a very very well cared for Island Packet. As we have been pointing out, it is the LOWERS that will first have the problem due to the bend put into the chainplate after it was installed. On this yacht, every single lower was broken and/or had cracks as well as the aft chainplates. From above deck, everything looked normal. Chainplates were shiny and bright and looked good. It is only when you remove these or when you have a lower snap off that you will see the cracks, the corrosion, and the issues. If your IP is a 1998 or older and maybe even 1999, then you should consider replacing the chainplates. Lucky for the fleet, we have identified several yards doing this work. #1 is Colin Mack at www.MackYachtServices.com #2 Embree Marine, Salt Creek St. Pete FL. #3 Snead Island Boatworks Palmetto, FL, #4 Alfredo Duran of Texas at www.cosmeticboatrepair.com/chainplate.html These are the yards we have worked with addressing this issue. Currently, Colin Mack has done more than anyone else with currently (2019) 50+ chainplate jobs. Take a look at these photos, it is topic we all need to learn about.
