Replacing the Holding Tank

On our first over-nighter on our "new" boat in 2010 we discovered the holding tank was compromised. So much for marine surveys. We had the tank replaced at Gratitude in Maryland. First guesstimate for repair was "around $7500 and six weeks". We were living aboard at this time so this was critical for us. They went in through the bunk in the forward stateroom. The tank had to be cut apart in place to be removed. The replacement came from Wellington Tanks. 1/2" plastic with baffles and a level sensor. In the end the job took three months and cost $14,000. Probably would have been better to go in through the floor.
