When pendant breaks

My two 3/4" pendants broke and the boat blew up on this beach. This happened on 9-11-09 in New Jersey. The winds were blowing a steady 40mph gusting to 55mph for a day and half. I think the pendants broke because they rubbed on the bob stay at the turn buckle, due to the extreme motion of the boat. I was pulled off by the seatow boat in the pic. It was a tow not a salvage. I went sailing the next day!!!
