Storm Mooring Setup

We set this up yesterday (August 26, 2011) and hope it will eliminate any chafing issues with hurricane Irene headed directly at us. We used two 28' lengths of 3/8" Spectra line to make a 4X bridle from the cleats to the loops on the mooring pennant. Each side is tied on the cleat with a bowline running through the cleat, then to the pennant loop, back through the cleat and so on until there is a 7 foot extension of scope to each pennant. The original pennant line was sleeved in foam pipe insulation secured with cable ties so it floats and doesn't choke the mooring ball during the storm.
