SFF Computer and LCD Monitor on Arm

Thursday - July 8, 2004•Views: 3785••
We built a Shuttle SV25 Small Form Factor (SFF) computer about 2 years ago when our laptops became outdated and not worth upgrading. The Shuttle is nice and small and fully upgradeable like a regular desktop computer. I'm sure that the models have changed, but if you search pricegrabber.com for 'shuttle' under the computer category, you'll find them. It is a 'barebones' system (~$200) to which you add the processor, memory, harddrive, floppy, CD/DVD R/W and modem. The computer lives in the cabinet on the port side by the nav station.

We mounted the monitor on an articulating arm from ergomart.com ($230). The arm is through-bolted to the side of the nav station next to the breaker panel. The monitor can be positioned for viewing from the nav station, table, companionway, aft room (movies) and galley (recipes). The wires are kept relatively neat by using a PVC wire duct from mcmaster.com (p/n 7578K74 ~$20).
