Replace insulation project

Sunday - February 13, 2005Views: 4589
Troubled with condensation on the outside of the hull and poor run times on the compressor, I decided to remove the top of the box, remove the liner and all insullation and start again. There was another approach possible. Would likely have been much less costly but would still have posed a problem with the two component pour-in-place foam and potential voids. That is to remove the stove and the entire end plywood of the box. Dig out the foam inside and replace. Another possibility was to replace with Glacier Bay vacuum panels rather than foam. This would be very costly requiring many panels and had a very long delivery (6 weeks plus). The box in the 40 is very large and we had the space to add several inches of additional foam. Used Dow Corning Blue or Owens Corning Pink extruded foam. Non Hygroscopic they do not absorb water. All pour-in-place foams absorb H2O.
