Raymarine S3G Autopilot Installation

Monday - May 17, 2004Views: 12739
After being in seas rough enough that no one wanted to steer, including me, I changed my mind and decided to install an Autopilot. I chose the Raymarine ST7001 instrument head (the new 8001's mounting depth caused it not to fit where I wanted to place it), the S3G Course Computer and the Type 2 short stroke linear drive, and as a compnion, the ST 60 Rudder Angle Indicator. I received much help from fellow packeteers, Raymarine, Island Packet and Gratitude Yachting center. I learned alot about the operation of autopilots and I feel more conmfortable using the autopilot knowing I did the project myself.
