IMHO the real issue with IP boxes is the rather meager insulation of the top and lid. Here is my approach.
The surfaces are 1/16 G10 FG sheet stock with West epoxy fillets in the inside corners. Used duct tape to hold and align pieces during fabrication. Painted with Imron but anything should work. Everything is held in place with silicone, first foam then finished surfaces. Lid now opens aft rather than side to side.
