New headstay toggle

This is a rather marginal picture of my newer headstay tack configuration. You can see the upper toggle immediately beneath the furler, a flat bar connector and a second toggle below. This articulates with another toggle attaching it to the deck. My original allowed for very little lateral pivoting. Now it can pivot freely in both planes. Originally I saw the same wear and deformation you describe. Since the change, I have sailed several thousand miles and no signs of deformation or wear.
