New Found Metal SS Ports Install

Sunday - September 30, 2007Views: 7394
I installed 9 New Found Metal Stainless Ports on Panther our 1985 Island Packet 27. We bought the NFM SS ports at a boat show in 2004 but I hadn't been able to find the time to install them (I did one in 05'in the cockpit). In the summer of 2007 I promised myself I would complete the job and I did. I was very pleased how they came out. For those of the do it your-selfers who would like to know about the effort send me an email. It was about 40+ hours of my own labor. I did one window per day at about 4 to 5 hours per window.

It has been a real pleasure after the job was complete. I can open all 9 ports in the boat in under a minute and close them in a minute as well. This is credited to NFM's innovative use of self opening springs and quick close dogs latches. The Stainless Ports also add something special to the boat's appearance with all that beautiful stainless next to the teak.
