hammock chair for reading

We've got a big conventional hammock but storing it and hanging it on the boat is too much trouble. So we found this canvas chair which works well and comes with its own storage bag. I put a stainless screw in the end of each dowel to hold the straps in place so no assembly is required. I left one dowel end free on the top dowel so it still folds up into the bag. It's comfortable and a good place to read, especially when hanging from a dingy davit so you can splash your feet in the water. We don't use the foot rest. Being canvas with a drain grommet in the bottom you can sit in it in a wet swimsuit and dry off. The only drawback I see is that the nylon rope may not last long in the sun. It also hangs well from a halyard on deck. As avid readers we needed a comfortable place to read outside and this was a relatively cheap solution. At the time of this writing the price was $34.95
