After 15 years the microwave gave up. The new models are not small enough to fit the opening so we had to remove the bottom base board to get an extra 0.5" of height. I was amazed at how many screws are in the board itself. 3 from bottom under via the locker, 3 from right hand side and 2 retaining the spacing teak team on the left. However there are lots of hidden screws - 5 in the rear through the hull liner, 3 from the right hand side buried under the board (see photo 2) and 2 from the top holding the left hand spacing teak strip.

The microwave is a $55 unit from Walmart available in white, black and chrome. Ours was black Danby 0.7 cu ft Microwave p/n DMW7700BL. It fits perfectly in the space and has no overhang.
