Flush Valve Install
Visibility Public
I installed this Groco flush valve in line with the thru-hull for my gen set. I did this to avoid having to bleed the raw water pump every time I cleaned the strainer. The water pump must be installed below the water line and in this case it was installed under the galley sole and to access it I had to kneel down and stick my head in the hatch and try to see under the sole. Of course one's glasses fall off and if you're a older person and not as flexible as you used to be this is a real PIA. With the flush valve in place I can winterize it easily and after cleaning the strainer I can remove the plug in the valve and slighty open the thru-hull until the air in the strainer is burped out avoiding me having to loosen the seal on the water pump. Much better this way.
