Bird Abatement Net (BAN)

The birds (seagulls and cormorants) became an unbearable nuisance for a time during the 2007 season, leaving our freshly cleaned enclosure tattooed from its leading edge to its aftermost threads! Email exchanges on the Sailnet list produced a number of excellent observations and proposed solutions, but most were speculative, and I wanted a definitive cure in time for this season. In New England we have several cool months to think about matters like this, and so the wheels began to turn. The prototype BAN is described in the attached WORD document.
