Adjusting valves on our Yanmar engines is DIY work for sure, once the Certified Yanmar is no longer required to maintain the warranty.

Breather screen, strainer, flange, hose clamp, and hose have already been removed.

Valve cover retaining bolts have oring under head.

Remove heater hose and nipple for valve cover to clear. Shame on IP or Yanmar for nipple install.

Flywheel is at rear of engine. From rear, E1, I1, E2, I2, E3, I3, E4, I4.

Where clearance is measured.

0.008 must go. 0.009 must not go.

How clearance is adjusted. In to close clearance. Out to open. Hex nut locks adjustment screw.

Job requires simple tools. Valve cover has squared gasket. Consider reusing if in good condition.
