Cleats for roller furling lines

The cleats for the roller furling lines are difficult to use as mounted on my IP37. They are in a groove formed by some wooden trim which makes it hard to get a wrap on the cleat when there is tension on the line and it is parallel to the out going line
which binds the wrapped line making it hard to let out.
