Cutter sail with no boom

We removed the boom on both IPs that we have owned and we love the extra space on the foredeck. Here are some photos of the cutter boom removed from our IP35.

The cutter sail under sail with an OK shape.

A study in sheet angle. The cutter needs a barber hauler line to pull the sheet angle foward.

The problem is the sheet angle, it needs to be pulled forward and down, sail is twisted off.

Cutter is oversheeted and needs let out.

Here you can see the sheet needs let out, but them the top of the cutter will luff.

The extra space on the foredeck is nice.

See why we wanted the boom removed!

I also like the clean look of the bow without the boom.

Sheet test w/traveler and setting up barber hauler.

Testing barber hauler set up, blocks will be used in final install. Pulls sheet down and fwd.

Test, barber hauler pulled in to power up the top of the sail and prevent twist off.

Barber hauler test. Sail pulled in, down, and forward. Need to position more forward for vent.

Barber hauler again, pulled down. Blocks will be added, this is a test set up.
