IP 35 Helm Replacement

Rob Glebe, of RH, MD, removed our old helm on IP35-165 and installed the new Edson CDi below decks helm. Added to this is a single lever engine control. Full details are on our web site...Some have called this an IP36 now!

A study of the headliner which will be cut, we also cut an access panel later.

Strength is based on 3/16" Fiberglass liner, look at bolts. New system is stronger.

Old helm is removed, new wheel will be higher, pilot will be below decks.

Headliner & access holes are cut. Rudder post is easy to work on now!

Old helm bolts are easy access, shift & throttle cables will be replaced.

What to do with your old helm! This worked<br> :-)

No turning back now! We hope the new helm will work out. First install, Edson helped us.

Edson CDi arrives, we lay out the parts and study. Helm cost about $2,500.00

Output arm and rudder arm along with push rod and ball joints.

Bolts right in place! UNREAL. New shift lever bolts ontop, cables run inside.

Panish single lever engine controls bolt ontop of the CDi helm.

Orignial compass bolts on top of Panish engine controls. Single lever control is nice.

Stop ring and below deck system. We added a 3/4" ply ring and epoxy to the deck.
