Installation and rigging of a boom preventer on my IP27, using a Shockle, line and turning block. For some reason, the 3rd and 4th thumbnails are wrong, but the full images are correct.

Preventer from helm. Note safety loop on Shockle. Note spin sheet runs clear of the preventer.

Two-part boom bail assembly. Purchased from Rig-Rite -- they carry many parts for Isomat spars.

Bail fastened to boom end from inside with hex head bolts, washers, and acorn nuts, not rivets.

Turning block snapshackled to base of stanchion.

Aft boom sheaves, viewed from above. R to L: spare; outhaul; topping lift; reef line.

Preventer from the bow. Cleated mid-ship. Extra line coiled on lifeline.

Shockle used as boom tie-down. Clipped to loop around cleat on coaming.
