Lofrans Tigres instillation was created by Rwirtz
Trying to install new Tigres windlass, can't read the DVD instructions, no paper manual and online information is insufficient. A few questions:
1) do you just remove the two rear SS nuts to access the wiring instillation to the motor? Can't easily open the cover and assume I need to pry it open.
2) can I just connect the Tigress motor to the 12 volt wires that powered my Sprint 1500, or do I need to install the Lofrans control box 3T that came with the Tigres?
I've got limited tools and Internet access but could call if someone with experience was willing to answer a few questions. Thanks. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Please disregard question 1) as I got that figured out. If anyone knows if I can use the existing up/down wiring from the old Spirit 1500 with the new Tigres, until I get back to home port, would appreciate an answer. Thanks.

Disregard my requests, as once I got the Spirit out and access to the electrical connections rewiring appears straight forward. Sorry to clutter the site. Will take photos and post making it easier for those making a windlass replacement in the future.

Bob:
When I switched from the SL1000 to the Tigress, I replaced the solenoid installing the one that came with the Tigress, but I kept and used the SL foot switches and wiring since these are just little signal wires. I hope your install is going well.

Hayden,
Just finished instillation on my Tigres windlass (photo w/o rear cover), foot switches and solenoid. Was not able to open the DVD instruction manual that came with the unit, however, accessing IPYOA photos as well as videos on servicing the Tigres gave me the information I needed. Used 4 AWG cable from the solenoid to the motor, as the service video indicated that only up to 2 AWG could be used for the rear cover to close and seal. Will used a 3" section of Float Noodle (see photo) to reduce water intake.
