CAPTCHA security added was created by hayden
IPYOA now has another layer of security added, that being a CAPTCHA image puzzle required to be solved in order to register. Say what? OK, here is what goes on with the web, robots (i.e. BOTs) run around the web and look for login forms and registration forms. When they find them, they register. If the bot can fill in the form with fake text then they can register for the site. To stop this process, you add a CAPTCHA image that needs to be read and the answer needs to be correctly typed into the box. If you can do that, then you are a real person and not a BOT, and you will be able to register. Here is what a our captcha image looks like:
What is also interesting about this application is that you are also helping to digitize books as you solve the words. That's right, one word is know, the other needs to be read and typed into the computer. If you do it correctly, you are helping the world digitize scanned books. That is really cool. The main aspect here, is that we now have another layer of security preventing spammers from registering on our site.

reCAPTCHA is a project of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
