If I wanted to explore via charter, the Abacos, Bahamas, I would focus on the area south of Whale Cay. I would book a boat out of Marsh Harbor. Then with a one week cruise or even a two week cruise I would follow this plan.
Board in MH
MH to Nippers, Great Guana, anchor/moor in Fishers Bay
.....nippers and Grabbers beach bars
Great Guana to Hopetown
.....moor in harbor or anchor off inlet n dinghy in
.....lighthouse tour at dusk, see lighting
.....burgers at Hopetown Lodge overlooking beach
Hopetown to Tahiti Beach
....anchor out
....walk beach at low tide
.....swim, beach day
Tahiti Beach to Sandy Cay or Lynyard Cay
....anchor out
....snorkel Sandy Cay
....beach off Lynyard Cay
Lynyard to Little Harbor
....mooring via Petes pub
....Petes Pub for lunch or dinner
...walk beach at Petes pub
Little Harbor to Sugar Loaf
....anchor off if west winds
.....if east winds, round corner of Matt Lowe Cay
.....beach day, swim, snorkel
If not Sugar Loaf, them Man O War Cay
...mooring and explore MOW
MOW back to MH
....jib room sat pm for steak night
....jib room wed for rib night
....return boat
That is a perfect week charter to see the best.
If two weeks, you would add in Treasure Cay to the north, but still south of Whale Cay. You could also add in Bakers Bay on Great Guana for more beach time. Then again you could come from Little hbr back to Tahiti Beach and spend another day there because it is spectacular.
This area is as good if not better than the BVIs and USVI. It has many of the same similarities but it is easier to get to and simple sailing.
