settee storage access doors

Friday - October 3, 2003Views: 2882
We changed the settee access because the original design was just a piece of plywood with 3 holes cut into it...

The biggest problem we had was that the size of the holes were so small. We were limited to putting things in storage containers that could fit through them... a lot of space was wasted and it was somewhat disorganized...

we built 3 full size doors and they open on a piano hinge ... we can open all 3 at the same time and get access to the entire space ...

when we were cruising, we stowed our dive compressor (Bauer Junior) on a bolted down custom mount that we built into the port side forward section ...

We also slightly changed the angle of the cushions -- it's a little more comfortable to sit back (not so straight) ....

these photos were actually taken during construction ... but, the completed doors all have a finger hole in the top center ... they are held closed by a positive latch on the inside easily accessed through the fingerhole ...
