Staysail Boom Rigging Question - 1991 IP29 was created by Baysailor34
I'm sure this has been covered but I can't find it. I have a 1991 IP29 and would like to properly set up the staysail boom rigging. The sail is a hank-on and there is a traveler just forward of the mast. Is there an illustration someplace that I can use showing lines and blocks for factory setup. Also, is there a name for my boom type like there is for the Hoyt boom? Thanks,

I would seriously consider adding a furler to this hanked on staysail. That way when it's windy and rough, which is when you will use this sail, you can simply unfurl it from the cockpit.

I also then would remove the staysail boom as it is not needed at all.

Now, if you add the furler it's simple. One single sheet lead aft and one single furling line. Done.

This would cost more then just rigging the hanked on, but it will really allow you to actually use the staysail when needed. No one wants to go to the bow in WI dy conditions to hand hoist a tiny little staysail. I only use my staysail in 25-35 knots. I am not going up there to host in that.

Buy a furler if you can, and set it up properly.
