We had noticed a problem with water coming in via the inside of the mast and then spilling over into the mast step compartment without draining to the bilge. Over time we were seeing several inches of accumulation and had to manually pump it out. I've seen posts on this problem for other models but not the 445.
We recently received some very helpful information from the manufacturer. It turns out there should be drainage from the mast to the compartment via channels in the step bracket (first attachment) and then to the bilge via two drain holes (second attachment). In our case it is difficult to tell about the channels until we remove the mast, but using a wire camera we've confirmed the drain holes were missed when the yacht was built. If anyone else has run into this we hope the information is helpful.
