IP40 Water and Holding Tank Replacement was created by rhodesps
We are researching replacing our water and holding tank on our IP40. Does anyone have a ballpark idea of the cost for this project? Approximate amount of time needed for this work? Any recommendations for replacement tanks manufacturer and materials? Any recommendations for a boatyard near San Diego, California that you would trust to tackle the job? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

I have an IP 350 and I replaced my holding tank in 2019.
a) I am in Annapolis, MD area so I can't recommend anyone in your area
b) The estimate that I got for just my holding tank was around $8,000. The actual price was in that area. Removing the tank may involve removing walls so it can get real expensive. See www.ipyoa.com/forum?view=topic&catid=44&id=4200.
c) for the holding tank go with the Duraweld plastic. The stainless steel and aluminum will fail in the future. I only wanted to do it once. The tank worked out great. Information:

The price for your tank is $630.00
All tanks fabricated out of 3/8" Polypropylene.
Pricing is with NPT standard fittings.
Please note that the fittings are not flush fittings, they are raised.( allow 3/4"for raised fittings)
Delivery is approximately 3-4 weeks from confirmation of order.
Prices do not include shipping.
50% Deposit required to confirm order with balance due prior at time of
shipment.
Please call me if you have any questions.

Thanks
Gareth

d) I also replaced all the sanitation hoses with Shields Trident 101/102 Sanitation Hose

e) Timeline: they will want to do the work in the winter since it is one smelly job. My job took 2-3 months. They will want to take the tank out, get the "real measurements", order the tank, install and do the wood work.
f) The workers did a great job, I have an access panel so I can get to it in the future. They matched it up nice on the floor.

My IP40-22 has now entered this phase of its life. It is in the Annapolis area and I would appreciate any info on how and where to get these repairs done.

I had my work done at Herrington Harbour North, Phipps Boat Works.

Buster Phipps is a real craftsman and did a beautiful job on replacing our holding tank. We have an access panel into the tank now and can check on it. I also bought the Trident Shields Sanitation hoses and he installed them. It will not be cheap, but it will be done right.

We also used Dura Weld for our replacement tank on Shawnee IP380, back in 2013. Excellent work. 380s need a lot of carpentry work to replace tank. For us it was about $10k back then in Miami area. For hose check out Raritan Saniflex Sanitation Hose - 1-1/2 Inch (avail from Defender and others). Much more flexible than other brands.

Total agreement on DuraWeld. Gareth made up a new holding tank for me a few months ago. Slipped right in. I did the work myself (with 1 helper). A dirty, nasty, smelly job, but had to be done.

Also total agreement on Raritan Saniflex hose. I had replaced all the toilet-related hoses with the stiff white stuff in 2014, but have since started pulling that out and replacing it with Saniflex. Great hose.

I am a new IP320 owner in San Diego and need to replace the water tank. Did you have any luck replacing your tank? Who did it? Would you do anything different?
Thanks,
Mel
