I have a bit of an issue with my holding tank. Our boat is Make Me Laugh Again, IP445-11. The tank is supposed to be 55 gallons based on the documentation I have been able to find, but when measured it was closer to 35 gallons. The boat is a 2005, so about 15 years old.
To measure the tank, I pumped it out with a shore based vacuum system, filled with water and pumped it out again, then filled a 5 gallon bucket with water and timed how long to fill, then using the same hose, filled the tank and measured how long. I repeated 3 times to make sure that the tank was empty and that I had a good time for how long to fill the tank. So, I am pretty confident that I don’t have 55 gallons worth of capacity.
My question is how to remove the build up stuff in the bottom of the tank, short of opening the tank and digging it out. Is there an enzyme or chemical that will break that up with damage to the tank? Which is fiberglass.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to think about this.
