Water Tank Level Sensor was created by Vyg

I need to replace water tank level sensor on our IP420. Who is the manufacturer and should I be looking for a specific model, etc? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I replaced the fuel gauge in February 2015. I called the manufacturer and was referred to Titan Machinery, 641-628-2131.
I think they are the same except the length may vary on the water tank. Their Part number was 60109001cost 74.77 plus freight. Very nice people, they thought it was cool to sell a part for a sailboat.

I replaced mine with a unit from WEMA (wemausa.com) I believe it was the SSS / SSL line. You have to order a specific length - I measured the length (depth into the tank) of the old unit and used that.

I was looking at WEMA sensors as well. Do they have exactly same thread as the original one?

Yup. Drop in, align the holes, screw it down, hook it up. At least that's the way mine was.

We replaced our water tank gauge with the WEMA, like others have said:

They are the same bolt pattern. Just be very careful to NOT drop the tiny bolts.

One disappointing aspect of my WEMA water tank gauge is that it is not linear. It seems to have a set number of indicators and what I observed is that the tank gauge will show 3/4 full, for example, and stay there for a while, like a day or two, then POOF....it next shows 1/2 full. It never shows a linear drop in water, it shows stages. My old float type was linear. Just a heads up.

So, you pull out the old one, then measure the depth into the tank to the bottom, and make sure you buy the longest one that will fit without hitting the bottom. That is how you measure the tank.

Great question!
Unlike Haden’s gauge that has a flange with holes, our 1999 IP45 has a threaded Wema gauge. Those threads are a DIFFERENT size from what is currently available from Wema! I’ve had many conversations with Wema about this, and the results:
1. The current thread size was adopted about 2000.
2. No old thread-type gauges are in stock.
3. Perhaps a long-time distributor has one? They provided me names and numbers for distributors in USA and Canada. I called them all, and none had any.
4. My current unit is not repairable.
5. I would need to modify/create a new mounting for a new gauge.

Well, I figured out already that the sensor on my IP420 is threaded and screws in. The problem is - my boat was built in 1999-2000 and no one at the factory can shed some light regarding the thread used then...

I have to replace my old water tank level sensor too on my IP420 from 2001. I do not know the size on the treads and the depth of the tank, but it seem to be a sensor like this :

Do anyone know if this is the right sensor. The old one is from Rochester Gauges in Texas.

I bought a tank sensor from jme and that worked fine - for a while. The problem is that it corrodes, and do not work very vell any more. Do anybody have better solutions (plastic) , and may be a NMEA200 og Seatalk solution?

We have the sensor replaced with WEMA S3U sensor. A note of caution the thread is a BPT (British Pipe Thread) 1.25"!
