I believe I may have to replace the bilge pump and switch in an IP 350. I thought Hayden had posted info with pics on a replacement he performed on an IP 35. Anyone have any info on this?

Thanks to Hayden for pics of his replacemnt.....We purchased the IP350 on 5-22-2012. It has the Rule 3700 with 1 1/2" outlet. Ordered new pump and Smart Switch from Defender & will install this week.

Looks like it will be a fairly straight-forwarded switch if we remove the short engine supply hose so we can raise the pump/switch mount to a workable level.

Hayden,

I was looking at the IP wiring diagrams for the bilge pump and float switch.

It appears to show two DC + (one for when the IP switch is in auto mode and one for the manual override) connecting to the float switch. Wondering if the original switch had a manual overide function that powered the pump when holding the momentary toggle in manual position.

The smart switch ss-209-12 appears to have a single DC + connection that will power the pump when the float rises and completes the circuit. Seems like I would connect the IP + wire from the automatic side to the smart input and just have the DC+ from the IP manual side connect to the smart output to the pump + (Then the pump would have two DC+ inputs: one operated by the smart switch float and one by the manual IP momentary toggle.) Is that how you connected your new switch and pump?

thanks..........jim murtha

Jim:
Yes, that is how I have ours set up. I can use the manual on switch and the float switch is auto. You have it exactly right.
