Hello, I recently acquired 'Alcyone', a 2000 IP 380 and am currently undertaking a mini refit.I've observed that the grounding conductor, which, as per the IP 380 manual, terminates on (or near) the log shaft, is currently hanging loose
File Attachment:
. It appears someone previously attempted to address local corrosion with a questionable collar anode.

Could you please provide details or a picture showing the original factory termination point for the log shaft grounding cable, or suggest an alternative solution?

Thank you much

Attached shows how the factory was doing it in 2020--just a simple hose clamp compressing the bare wire against the log.  Note the strain-relief zip-tie against the shaft log.

If I were redoing mine, I would (a) sand and polish the contact area and (b) goop silicone grease all over the bare wire before clamping it down.  In fact, I may do that preemptively.

As an update for those interested: Instead of clamping the bare wire of the bonding conductor (per factory) to the stern log, I opted to drill a hole in a clamp and use a # 10/24 copper screw with 8 AWG terminal.
