Nav System On SV Sea Candy

Sunday - October 25, 2015Views: 670
I just hate sailing sitting behind a computer screen, especially at night. And at anchor I find a large cockpit POD a negative. I decided to K.I.S. with Sea Candy nav system install. Raymarine E-90W at the nav desk, networked with ships instruments and HD Radar with the dome mounted up the mast on a Kato bracket. The GPS antenna is installed on the Kato stern arch. A handheld Garmin chart plotter with updated navionic chart cards mounted on the helm grab bar by a motorcycle RAM mount and easily viewed from anywhere in the cockpit. It is powered up with ships instruments or runs on battery. The Garmin is also quickly removed to store in the oven (Faraday Cage) when needed. I find this system ideal for me and I can easily navigate the ICW or offshore single-handed.
