Water Maker

While living aboard we monitored our water consumption and found we really do go through a lot in just one week. While at anchor we could haul water of unknown quality five gallons at a time. Uhm, no. We decided we needed a water maker. We looked around and found nearly everything to be way too expensive for our Scottish blood. After a little research we decided we could build one rated at 40 gph for less than $2500. The same one on the market would cost about $15,000. We designed a system using off-the-shelf components and started collecting parts. Then we inherited a full blown system so we're now in the process of rebuilding that and modifying it to our needs.
