Corian Counter Pictures
. We installed new countertops two years ago on our IP38, not Corian but a similar product. We found a local contractor from the St. Marys area recommended by a local tile/marble store. The result was wonderful and we are 95% happy with the job, we wish we had increased the size of the sinks slightly to accomodate larger pans and gone with a taller faucet.
We completely redid the refrigeration going with sealing lids from rparts. The frig lid is inboard, the freezer to outboard. They are flush mounted to that the surface can be used for cutting boards, etc. Also, they open aft so that we do not have to clear the surface above either the frig or freezer to open the other. One needs to plan for something to hold the doors open if using this option. I am still using a stick on the frig but am planning on adding a gas spring on the frig, the freezer door clears the cabinet above so it stays open.
Complexities included of the countertops included the hinges and pulls which must be routed after making a jig. Also, the corian increased the height by 1/2 inch or so. My countertop is seamless under the stairs so I had to cut the stair-top the appropriate amount plus provide for clearance over the fiddles. A good option is to make the one part fiddle under the stairs into three parts. I reinstalled the wood fiddles but corian fiddles look great too.
Rather than tear out the old boxes I added several layers of insulation everywhere then used frp paneling, and epoxied the corners and painted the inside using appliance paint which must be allowed to fully cure before cooling or else it will emit odors for a long time (my wife was so mad until we completely emptied them and heated them for a day). I have two compressors and evaporators for redundancy.
I think color is important. We went with a light neutral colors given the darkness inside already. Speckles can look like dirt too but each to his own.
