Raw Water Bypass — IP445 was created by No Wahalla
We are on a IP 445 in the Abacos, Bahamas and I just noticed that we are getting an additional stream out the stern of the boat while the engine is running. The stream varies somewhat with the RPMS on the engine. I turn the engine off and restart, and the stream is somewhat diminished, or even goes away with time. After consulting the IP445 Manual, this appears to be the Raw Water Bypass in the exhaust system. Apparently this is controlled by a valve that has been factory set. To “ Provide enough water to keep the exhaust gases cool, while minimizing the backpressure and should not have to be readjusted”. This may have been going on a while and I just noticed it.

Is this something to be concerned about?? The engine is running fine with the proper temp. What is causing the supposed backpressure?? Appreciate any insights!!
