I am wanting to replace my present cabin light bulbs with LED lights and there was quite a discussion going on which appears to no longer be in the forum. So again I have not found any bulbs that work and one reply noted an adapter that was needed. I need more information on that and any other suggestions. Thanks, Stephen

Stephen:
I added the 9 LED lights recommended by Bobby. I added them this spring and they fit right into the existing light fixtures. They are not cheap at $22 each!

Here is a photo album of the install and the details:

There's an extensive discussion regarding LED lights over on the IP Home Port forum - perhaps this is the one that you were thinking about? Link

Thanks. You are right and I was hunting on the wrong site. I belong to both and simply mixed up which one I was using for this information. The Home Port forum is where I was working on this issue and it a treasure of information. I was in Romania at the time I was posting my first questions and when I got back to the States simply logged into the wrong site. I hope that is just Jet Lag and not an early sign of something else Stephen

Hayden,
I read the IP Forum posts on the LED changeout and the details you have provided are very helpful; thank you.
Now can you comment as to your level of satisfaction with the LED light performance? Do the light "panels" remain in place ok as installed per your pictures with the adhesive tape? did you have to cut the plug in wires to shorter lengths or did it all fit in to the recess of the light fixtures behind the LED panels? I may give this one a try too this coming spring......thanks Paul Helweg/Wickford, RI

Paul:
The LED lights remain in place just fine, non have fallen out now in over 8 months since installed. As for satisfaction with light level, we are more than pleased! They are brighter then expected, they are warm, and not harsh, and now we have 10 lights on at night and do mnot even think about it. We have been living aboard now for 8 months with these and I wish I had done this sooner. They are expensive but well worth it. I have 2 more fixtures I can add into then all are complete. We did not have to cut any wires, we just installed them as described with double faced tape. I would highly recommend this addition.
