Island Spirit, an IP35 Provisions List for the Bahamas
www.IslandSpirit.us

Here is the list of supplies and food we used during our two months in the Bahamas. We ate at restaurants about 2 – 3 times per week maybe lunch or a dinner.

We bake our own bread, so that’s why we took so much flour. We eat egg whites for breakfast, so that’s why we used so many eggs.

When an item is listed but there is no number after it, that means I took it along and used it but did not finish it all before coming back to FL.

Great list, Hayden/Radeen. Our 9 week Bahamas cruise included a dozen lobsters from Bimini, half dozen more in Nassau. And we were given about 7 pounds of Wahoo from the sport fishermen in Bimini. We also ran into a Canadian catamaran at Little Farmers Cay who tied into 3 large Mahi Mahi and gave us about 5 pounds of nice filets. Otherwise, our provisions looked about the same. Thanks for sharing. Very helpful. For those heading south, remember in Nassau there is a Fresh Market store about a block from the east end of the marina row. This was great for stocking up and replenishing the fresh fruit and vegetables we had consumed to that point (for us it was about 2 weeks out of Key West).

Michael:
Great job on the lobsters and fish, we are really slacking in that area. We need to get fishing and hunting as well and if not then BUY some. Thanks for the added info.

One trick we learned is substituting half&half for fresh milk. Under refrigeration it lasts twice as long, takes up half the space in the refrigerator, it's more versatile because it can be thinned with water and used like milk. It makes a richer roux in cream sauces, etc. Try it. Mike & Carol on "Nomad"

Excellent list!
We are going off for 6 weeks, albeit to the other end of the world: Svalbard. But we need to be 100 % self-reliant. We pretty much count on catching fish, but we can't rely on it. So also bought 4 kgs salted cod (which the fishermen in these parts (Norway) have been making for 100's of years). They last for months.
