Another IP owner, Ed L. IP37 suggested that we use Krylon Fusion spray paint to paint our plastic sump fittings for the shower and the bilge on the stern. We did, and that worked out really well. It worked so well, we decided to also try his other suggestion for our boot stripe! WHAT? That's right, we re-painted our entire boot stripe with a $5.00 can of Krylon Spray paint from the local Ace hardware store. The bid to re-paint the stripe by the boat yard was $1,000 so we said no thanks. Now after nearly 4 months of hard use, and cruising from Maryland to Maine, I can report that this stuff really holds up. It has not flaked off or faded. All I was planning on doing was just to touch up the scratches. Once I started, it looked so good, we painted the entire IP35 boot stripe with 2-3 coats with one can. We did tape off the stripe, and the spray was very easy to control. UNREAL how fast and easy this was.
So, if your boot stripe is looking bad, then give this a try.
