With the rebuilding of the Rock Hall Island Packet Yachts Rendezvous, I thought it would be good to document where Spring Cove Marina is located and how you arrive by boat or by car. To see the charts, you can use this online nautical chart viewer and look at chart # 12272

Chester River; Kent Island Narrows, Rock Hall Harbor and Swan Creek
Spring Cove Marina is located just north of Rock Hall Maryland on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The marina is the last marina in Swan Creek.
Here is an overview: The arrow points to Spring Cove Marina
There are Red and Greens onto Swan Creek. At the top, you turn to starboard.
Once you reach the turn to starboard, you are looking towards Osprey Point Marina on your starboard side. Pass Osprey Point Marina and continue until you find the Green past Osprey Point Marina. Leave this green to port and turn towards Spring Cove.
The charts will say that this area is 4 feet deep. It is not. It 5-6 feet and it also has been dredged all the way past Spring Cove Marina to the public launch ramp. That means the dredge ran right past the outside slips of Spring Cove Marina. So the deepest slips are on the outside. But we have run our IP 35 Island Spirit with a 4.5 to 5 foot draft all over this marina and never ran aground.
Have you have ever seen the IPY raft up of all the Island Packet Yachts? Well that happened every summer (1995 to 2001) right off this marina at this location here, see the yellow spot on this chart. We rafter up 50 IPs here once!
If the winds are from the NORTH for a long time and if the tide is a big tide, then every now and then we see a low tide and boats may have trouble entering or leaving. But that is very rare, like once a year.
The mistake people make when coming to Spring Cove is that they turn to port too soon. Go all the way in past Osprey Point Marina and almost to Haven Harbor. You know you will be far enough when you see the moorings of boats. They will be on your starboard as you turn to port around the GREEN. Yes it may be shallow, but it is all soft soft mud, and no rocks, so no worries.
If you want to anchor our, we have anchored back in the creek where you turned to starboard. We also have anchored where the IPY raft up has taken place, it is 5 feet there.
The docks at spring cove are fixed docks with finger lengths that run about 1/4 of the way out your boat.
Here is the dock layout:
Welcome to Spring Cove Marina. We hope you enjoy the Rendezvous and your visit. I reccomend that you think about docking here for a season. Radeen and I docked here in 1991 to 2015. We are now sailing the Caribbean Sea for the next few years, but when we come back, this will be our home. It is peaceful, quiet and beautiful here. Enjoy....
