Communicating with a Cruiser was created by Galileo
Hello,

I tried to answer a message from a David Rock of S/V Faith which is an IP 40 #38.

He was in Marathon, FL as of April 25.

He sent me an e-mail via satellite phone using GMN's XGate software which at the end stated "Please be kind and keep your replies short."

I tried to respond with finally a text message but my efforts have been returned stating that the mail was undeliverable.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The message I tried to send him was as follows below and if you know how to contact him you may forward it to him:

David,

Have been having difficulty replying to your e-mail. Here is another attempt.

I was able to make the ones we have work after playing with them awhile so Ihaven't tried to buy any to replace what we have.

I was able to locate the following as a possible source, but have not yet pursued it. I did actually talk to John listed below and it sounded like they get them from the same source as Island Packet gets theirs.

Island Packet Windows (Port Lights) & Screens ($17) (14 1/2 14 5/8)(Manship manufactured)Outlaw$ Port Window Screens (727)804-8005 OR (727)544-2626 (Fax)please call (727)-804-8005. THANKS JOHN

If you try them, let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

If you do reach him what was the technique you used?

Would help if you shared the address that you sent the email to - might help trouble shoot the problem.

Larry:
Email to sat phones and or SSB/Winlink addresses need to be pre-approved by the owner BEFORE you will be able to email them. This way, they only get email from people they want to communicate with.

For example: I process the emails for IP40 Larking About. He has my email address on the allow list, but yet he emails many people via my forwards. If anyone on the forward would try to reply to him, they will be blocked and it will not go through I bet this is what is happening to you.

So I would not publish his sat phone / email address in here, since this is public. You should send it privately to Bobby, our communications/ex-Pentagon expert. Maybe he can reach him.

Hi Bobby,

The following message is what I received from David Rock:
Hi:

I sasw you were looking for screens forports on a 37.

We have a 40. Have you found any "aftermarket" replacements?

regards
David Rock

This e-mail was delivered via satellite phone using GMN's XGate software.
Please be kind and keep your replies short.
On the three attempts that I tried to respond, the last of which was a short text messsage to, as opposed to selecting the Reply option with Outlook Express, I received the following response:
This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients was aborted after 1 second(s):

My take on this is that David Rock would have to be on his satellite phone at the same time as I am trying to send him a message. I have no idea who his server is that he is downloading e-mails from. When I go to GMN's website Home Page www.globalmarinenet.net/index.php it is not obvious to me how/where I might send an e-mail to one of their subscribers which I suspect David Rock is in order for them to forward it to him the next time he downloads his e-mails from them.

It's a mystery to me.

Anyway, would appreciate any help/suggestions/solutions you may be to generate.

Thanks,

Larry Rossi

Hayden/Larry:

On Winlink - if you send an email to someone, that someone is automatically added to your "Whitelist" the allow mail from list.

Not sure how the satphone system ad software works.

Larry: Let me know if you want to send me an email directly.
